      I purchased this vent to add to my existing rain barrel because I did not want to cut into my new gutters to attach the rain barrel directly. I decided to cut a hole in the top of my rain barrel and inserted this vent to capture the rain into the free standing rain barrel. We had a lot of rain the next day after installing the vent and it seems to work just fine. I gave it 4 stars because the material is thin, but two vents come in the pack so I will keep the second one as a spare.
