    A damper in the 4-inch exhaust soffit dryer vent prevents outside elements and air from entering the vent when not in use. The damper opens and allows the exhaust air to exit the vent through the sufficient opening with a net free area of 11 square inches.

      I have not yet installed but it seems good. I wanted to comment on your customer service. One of 2 vents I purchased was not closing properly. I emailed and the service person they made a comment that defied common sense. After my second email back to them they complied and sent me a new one fast with no charge. I am very satisfied but you may want to review the customer service care reply to me.
